Dubai, November 19, 2023 – In a remarkable display of community collaboration, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) – Dubai and Northern Emirates partnered with the Filipino Social Club – Dubai and CAFFWO to host the second annual “Salamat, Kabayan!” event. Held at the Shabab Al Ali Sports Club in Al Qusais, Dubai, this event, which took place on Sunday, November 19, went beyond the confines of the MWO office to bring vital services and joyful activities to the Filipino community.

For the second consecutive year, MWO-Dubai extended its reach to assist numerous Filipino Domestic Workers in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The event provided essential services, including Contract Verification, OWWA Membership Renewal, SSS Membership, and Pag-Ibig Fund Membership, addressing the diverse needs of the Filipino workforce in the region.

During the Opening Program, Hon. Renato Dueñas Jr., Consul General of Dubai and Northern Emirates, and Atty. John Rio Bautista, Labor Attachè in Dubai and Northern Emirates emphasized the importance and the supportive role that each domestic worker does within the UAE society. And dedicated the day as a gesture of gratitude and recognition of their hard work.

To make the day fun-filled and enjoyable, a variety of activities catered to all attendees. From the spirited Palarong Pinoy 2023 to free basic medical check-ups and consultations, free haircuts, and nail cleaning, the event aimed to create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all participants.

The day was not short on entertainment, with a Karaoke Challenge and world-class performers from WCOPA adding musical flair to the festivities. Attendees also had the chance to participate in scholarship grants, engage in a lively raffle, and partake in numerous other engaging activities.

The “Salamat, Kabayan!” event exemplifies the commitment of the Migrant Workers Office, the Filipino Social Club, and CAFFWO to go beyond bureaucratic assistance and extend a warm, community-centric touch to their services. By combining essential support with a range of engaging activities, the event not only addressed practical needs but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and celebration within the Filipino community in the UAE.
