Dubai, UAE 19 November 2021 – The Filipino Social Club President Ericson P. Reyes had a short meeting with the Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. in Dubai. Also present were dignitaries H.E. Hjayceelyn M. Quintana, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE and Mr. Renato N. Dueñas, Jr., Philippine Consul General in Dubai.
President Reyes conveyed his gratitude to Sec. Locsin for the assistance of the DFA to the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) during the height of the pandemic. He also appreciated the efforts exerted by the DFA Secretary and Ambassador Quintana, in further strengthening the cooperation and diplomatic relations of the Philippines and our host country, the United Arab Emirates.
Last 17 November 2021, Secretary Locsin and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, had bilateral talks during their meeting at the UAE Pavilion of the World Expo 2020 Dubai. According to Amb. Quintana, this renewed connection between the two nations, which coincides with the 47th anniversary of PH-UAE diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the UAE, is a testament to their goodwill and friendship.
Additionally, Pres. Reyes told the Foreign Affairs secretary about FilSoc being a licensed club by the Community Development Authority (CDA) of the Dubai government and its goal to be an overall organization for all Filipinos residing in the UAE. Further, the former said that the club is ready to support the Philippine government’s programs for the benefit of the UAE Filipino community.
